When I was 11 years old, I had a real obsession with NBA star Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat. A larger-than-life figure for me as a kid, Wade rose from poverty on the South side of Chicago to basketball superstardom (I later met Wade in the gym he built for his high school alma mater). Inspired by meteoric rise and leadership of the 2006 NBA Champion Miami Heat, I learned how to record Heat games to a DVD (sorry, NBA), sift through them for Wade’s highlights, and cut the best ones to hacky inspirational music. Thus began a life-long love affair with cameras, video editing, storytelling and creativity.
I didn’t grow up wanting to direct blockbusters or short films, nor did I want to spend the better part of my life on giant Hollywood productions as a crew member. I’ve always wanted to use my talents for videography to tell stories that matter; stories of entrepreneurs challenging massive industries, of artists breaking through barriers both external and internal, of people - real people - doing real things and carving out a niche for themselves. It always seemed to me that the best stories and most impactful narratives are about what real people are doing to improve the lives of others and their own. This is why I get up every day and why I got into videography in the first place. I can’t wait to help you tell your story, and to document your journey.
